Superb sunshine festival 2015

Every year Sunshine music festival is held right by our house in Upton Upon Severn; it’s a great festival for all and this year was no exception. Over the last few years it has got bigger and better. It’s a great location, even if I am a little bias with it being so close to home. This year there was magnificent music, fabulous food, fantastic fireworks and spectacular sunsets.
The line up was brilliant, the personal highlight was Gabrielle, back in the day I was a big Gabrielle fan, although her set was shorter than most expected it was brilliant, it turns out I still remember most of the words to her big hits. I was especially happy when we managed to get a photo with her.
Other than Gabrielle there was lots of other fantastic acts to suit anyone of any age including UB40 who headlined the festival, Chas & Dave, The Wurzels, Suzi Quatro and lots of other acts, including lots of local, up and coming acts on the Sunshine stage such as Done by Sunrise and Ben Vickers.
I was rather disappointed on Friday night as I missed the Chuckle Brothers, there were some difficulties getting everyone into the festival and I ended up in a queue for nearly an hour and missed them so I failed on my mission to get a selfie with them. We made up for this by being front row for the Paul Daniels magic performance on Sunday, his tricks confused me, I can never work out how they do magic, Debbie McGee even made an appearance.
In previous years, I think the organisers will admit the food has been rather boring, standard burger van style food; this year there was some brilliant food on offer. I managed to try the food at a couple of the stands and it was great, there really was something for everyone. After a couple of drinks on Saturday night I had sausage and mash from Sausage Fest, it was lovely, proper sausages with proper mash, what more could a girl want? The jerk chicken from Jamrock Catering was lovely with a bit of salad. I managed to sneak a bit of the others half’s fish and chips from Atlantis Fish Bar, all the way from Jersey and these were also fabulous, I love nice crisp batter on my fish and there was just that. It would be great next year to see some healthier food options and meals to cater for people with food intolerances.
Overall the weather for the festival was pretty good, with spectacular sunsets on both Friday and Saturday night. It did rain on Sunday but this didn’t stop the fun, with the Supreme Dreamgirls singing us through the worst of it. The finale of the weekend was a fantastic firework display, I love fireworks and these were brilliant followed by UB40 and finally a boogie to Bootleg ABBA.
If you are thinking of visiting Sunshine Festival next year I’d suggest you get your tickets booked, it really is a fantastic weekend. All involved are friendly and work really hard to make it the best possible experience for everyone.
