Hello Fresh…

by admin
So, I did the Great Birmingham Run (all 13 miles of it) a few weeks ago and in the finishers goodie bag was a £25 gift voucher for “Hello Fresh”. I have to admit I had heard of the brand previous to this but I wasn’t really sure what they did. That night I got home, had a google and decided it was worth a try, especially with the £25 voucher. At the time I was pretty knackered and the thought of someone planning our meals for the next week seemed a great idea.
There’s several box options available, including vegetarian and both 3 and 5 meal plan options. With the 3 meal plan there is the option to switch choices if you don’t like the look of one of the recipes but disappointingly this is not available at the moment on the 5 meal plan however luckily we liked everything on the list for that week.
The boxes are delivered on a Tuesday or Thursday between 9 and 5, however everything is delivered well packaged and chilled where necessary. I didn’t get home till gone 6 and it was left out of view and everything was perfectly chilled, very impressive. I was so excited to open the box- it was huge and packed full of exciting ingredients. I sorted it all out and got on with creating our first Hello Fresh meal, there is a recipe card for each recipe with step by step instructions with everything really well explained- perfect for people who are just getting into cooking or limited on time. The first meal I created was stuffed chicken breast which was really easy to follow, tasted great and like all of the meals the portion size was perfect, if anything a lot more than we would normally have- I was a bit concerned that they would be small portions but it certainly wasn’t. The quality of all of the ingredients was brilliant, we actually ended up eating the food over a longer period than a week as we were away for a few days and it all lasted perfectly.
What I loved most about Hello Fresh is how easy it was, the quality of the ingredients and extravagance of each meal, each recipe included absolutely everything including all of the extras which I have to admit quite often I end of missing out on an average weekly meal. This is not a cheap outgoing each week but I do think for some people it is well worth it. Working full time (and part time) it was perfect for my lifestyle where I was able to cook from scratch with ease and when you work it out it is cheaper than if you were to buy all of the ingredients separately.
