Cornish Pod Glamping

Cornish Pod Glamping

You might recall seeing on my twitter feed a few weeks ago that it was my birthday last month, so the boyfriend treated me to a few days away in Cornwall. We left it pretty last minute to book and we really struggled to find a nice hotel with availability, after hours of googling (we always manage to spend forever trying to get something booked when we want to go away), eventually I came across Atlantic Surf Pods in Bude. After about two minutes on their website I was adamant it was where we should go, the other half took a little more persuading but by the next morning it was booked.

We arrived at Atlantic Farm where Atlantic Surf pods were based on the Thursday afternoon, we were greeted by a lovely lady on a golf buggy (I wanted a go but the other half said it was rude to ask), who introduced us to our Pod for the next three nights, Seaflower. The pod was clean, spacious and exactly as described on the website. We had checked the forecast for the next day and it was due to heavy rain all day so we headed straight to the supermarket so we could get a barbecue on the go, seeing as it looked like from the forecast it would be our only opportunity. Each pod is supplied with a gas barbecue, which was really easy to use and worked really well- we’ve got a gas one at home and it isn’t very good, I was impressed with this one.

When we woke up on Friday morning we could hear the rain on the pod, it was pouring. Now time for the tricky bit, the toilet was outside, so we had to run outside in the rain, luckily I thought to take a rain coat with us! Each pod comes with its own toilet/ washroom, which was great however the showering facilities in ours weren’t brilliant. The shower is over both the toilet and sink so it all gets wet, but unfortunately the floor in ours was the wrong angle so the water couldn’t run out of it so we ended up with a big puddle of water in our little washroom for the rest of our stay. For those less keen to embrace the full glamping experience there is a luxury bathroom available to all guests, so I would recommend utilising this and keeping your little washroom just for the toiley facilities, as it was also a little cold showering outside. After a cold shower getting back into the Pod with a lovely heated floor was heaven.

If you are looking for a little trip to Cornwall I would recommended the teletubbie land of Atlantic Surf Pods to anyone, they are based at Atlantic farm which also offer holiday cottages, camping facilities as well as a tree house- which I am keen to try next time. It was great for a short break, however we werent particularly luckily with the weather on our trip and although we would stay there again we wouldn’t want to stay longer than the three nights that we did, we missed electricity and the internet!
