Top Five Heat Wave Water Recipes

Top Five Heat Wave Water Recipes

So it has been the hottest day for nine years, unfortunately I have been stuck at work in a boiling hot office all day. Over the last few days, I like many others have been struggling to stay cool and hydrated in this weather; this is where my new Aladdin water infuser bottle has come in very handy. I tend to drink a lot of water anyway as I don’t like hot drinks and try to avoid sugary drinks day to day but on days like today I am conscious to stay extra hydrated.

I have spent the last few days jazzing up my water and infusing it with various fruit flavours and thought I would share with you what I have so far found to be my top favourites. If you don’t have a special water infuser bottle it really doesn’t matter at all, you can pop the fruit straight into a glass of water. The longer you can leave it to infuse tends to mean the stronger the flavour.

  1. “Essence of Pimms”
This has to be in at the top, what could be better than a glass of water full of the things you would expect in a glass of Pimms, aside from an actual glass of Pimms of course? Strawberry, orange, cucumber and a few sprigs of mint, so far this is my favourite flavour.
  1. Orange and lime
I actually was out at a garden centre café at the weekend and noticed they were service jugs of water with orange and limes, which inspired me to give it a go.
  1. Lemon and mint
This is really refreshing both the mint and lemon are quite strong tasting, it’s odd as you don’t actually really taste the mint until you’ve swallowed it.
  1. Cucumber and lemon
Cucumber is a funny thing really because in a salad it doesn’t really have much taste but add it to some infused water or a smoothie and it is really quite strongly flavoured.
  1. Lemon
Of course the original infused water variation, an oldie but a goodie.

I have also tried using apple as I have seen quite a few suggestions online to use lemon but I am yet to find one that I like, I found that you couldn’t really taste it. As I continue to experiment with different infused water combinations I will keep you updated on my favourite combinations.
