Really Easy Healthy Chilli Bowls

My plan for healthy, quick dinners is going well, we are eating well and I’m not spending all evening in the kitchen. This recipe for my chilli bowls is really easy to make, full of vegetables and looks pretty impressive too. One large onion, chopped Two cloves of garlic, crushed 450g really lean minced beef Tablespoon of tomato puree One tin of chopped tomatoes Hot Sauce, I tend to use Cholula hot sauce Two Red peppers, diced Two courgettes, diced One tin of red kidney beans Two packets of microwave brown rice Four Wholemeal tortilla wraps One avocado, chopped Sour cream (optional) Bunch of Coriander, chopped (optional) Serves Four Soften the onion and garlic in a large pan with......

Mexican Feast Wahaca Style

As you have probably already realised I love eating out so when I was away with work in London a couple of weeks ago I was excited to try somewhere different. Unfortunately at the last minute the colleague I was meant to be travelling with had to drop out so I had to head to London on my own. I was now in need of somewhere I would feel comfortable eating on my own, I couldn’t decide what to do so went for a wonder. I don’t particularly like my own company and if I’m honest I really dislike being on my own so wasn’t really keen on dining alone. Luckily I soon came across Wahacas, which seemed an......

Afternoon Tea at Stanbrook Abbey

You might remember me posting a few weeks ago about my Granny’s 90th birthday, well I couldn’t decide what gift to get her so instead decided to get together with my cousins and take her out for the afternoon instead. We took her to Ellenborough Park for afternoon tea early last year and she loved it so we knew she would enjoy another afternoon tea outing. We couldn’t decide where to go, but as we wanted to make sure it was special and I’d heard good things about Stanbrook Abbey, in Callow End, Worcestershire it was an easy choice. We were so undecided where to go that we left booking to just a few days before. When we arrived......

Superb sunshine festival 2015

Every year Sunshine music festival is held right by our house in Upton Upon Severn; it’s a great festival for all and this year was no exception. Over the last few years it has got bigger and better. It’s a great location, even if I am a little bias with it being so close to home. This year there was magnificent music, fabulous food, fantastic fireworks and spectacular sunsets. The line up was brilliant, the personal highlight was Gabrielle, back in the day I was a big Gabrielle fan, although her set was shorter than most expected it was brilliant, it turns out I still remember most of the words to her big hits. I was especially happy when......

Cornish Pod Glamping

You might recall seeing on my twitter feed a few weeks ago that it was my birthday last month, so the boyfriend treated me to a few days away in Cornwall. We left it pretty last minute to book and we really struggled to find a nice hotel with availability, after hours of googling (we always manage to spend forever trying to get something booked when we want to go away), eventually I came across Atlantic Surf Pods in Bude. After about two minutes on their website I was adamant it was where we should go, the other half took a little more persuading but by the next morning it was booked. We arrived at Atlantic Farm where Atlantic......

Surprisingly Quick Strawberry Jam

You might remember a few weeks ago we went strawberry picking, with planning for my Granny’s 90th Birthday in mind I wanted to make some of the strawberries into jam that I can use in her birthday cake. There is something really rewarding from making your own jam, especially knowing exactly what has gone into the jam, no additives, preservatives etc. I decided to use the Ball Preserving recipe and processing method to make the jam, I was amazed to make a batch of jam in less that an hour, which if you have made jam using traditional methods you will know sounds like a dream. The Ball Home Preserving Starter Kit has everything you need to get started......

Livestock Festival Shenanigans

At the weekend I was lucky enough to go to the first Livestock Festival in Longdon, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, although Sunday morning I didn’t feel too lucky. I’m not a big drinker; I can go months on end without a drop of alcohol so don’t always know my limits… I may have had one too many on Saturday night. I will not be drinking for a long time now, back of the clean living! It was a great festival with good food, great atmosphere and fantastic line up including Scouting for Girls, The Feeling, Toploader and Jermain Jackman. I’ve been a fan of Scouting for Girls since they began but never seen them live and I saw The Feeling......
